September/October 2016 Update

During September and October it was full steam ahead as it was the countdown to the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, which was held during the weekend of 1st - 2nd October 2016.

Coverage and visibility of the event was increased as case studies appeared across the country in print, online and on television, while traction was gained throughout social media.

Members of the Glasgow Mela, Scotland's biggest free multicultural festival, were providing entertainment on the runners' route, and we enlisted their help on a photo call which showcased some great photos and gained some lovely coverage and promotion ahead of the event.

Flying into October, the event itself reported great numbers as over 30,000 people took part during the entire weekend.

As we all know, the best laid plans and all that, we just can't legislate for what the unpredictable Scottish weather will do. And we were lucky to see some gorgeous autumn sunshine on the Sunday during the 10k and half marathon events.

The event was televised during a well put together programme on BBC Two Scotland and the aerial shots of Glasgow and some of the city's best known landmarks was a brilliant advert and showcase.

And to cap it all, the half marathon produced a Scottish winner as Callum Hawkins was first over the line, easily holding off the challenge of defending champion, Moses Kipsiro of Uganda, by clocking a time of of 60 minutes 22 seconds.

There's so many great moments to enjoy during the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run.

You see people running for charities, raising money, reaching personal bests and achievements, running for fun, health or in memory of loved ones. Everyone has a story to tell. From a PR point of view, it's a brilliant event to work on and from a personal point of view, it's inspirational and humbling.

It's a platform for all, from elite athletes, amateurs, everyday runners, beginners right down to families and toddlers, and strange looking furry creatures.

Mascots make me smile and the mascot race on the Saturday afternoon was entertaining, and also a tiny bit competitive!

Well done to everyone who took part.
