April / May 2017 Update
What I've learned from doing PR for the Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, is that nothing stands still. There's always something happening and there's lots to talk about. From a PR perspective, it's an ideal job.
April kicked off with Manorview's Boclair House celebrating their first birthday with a Great Gatsby themed ball. This glamorous event also raised over £4,000 for the Glasgow-based Cure Crohn's Colitis Charity.
And the Group's charity work also stepped up a pace, as lots of collaborations were formed with great charities such as When You Wish Upon A Star, East Renfrewshire Good Causes, Strathcarron Hospice and St Vincent's Hospice.
The girls at Cornhill Castle also raised £1,800 for Chest Heart & Stoke Scotland by abseiling from the Forth Rail Bridge.
We also started working with Glasgow-based charity A&M Scotland. This charity ensures young people from the most disadvantaged areas of Glasgow are not excluded from taking part in sport. They provide dance classes and football coaching free of charge to young people. The result of this collaboration has led to the Manorview Charity Legends Football Match in association with A&M Scotland. This will be held at Hamilton Academical Football Club on Sunday 9th July, with proceeds going to the charity. In addition to the football match there will be a Sportsman's Dinner held on the same evening at The Busby Hotel.
It was also Easter - The Commercial Hotel in Wishaw gathered Easter eggs and donated them to Wishaw General Hospital, and we visited the A&M Scotland Easter holiday camps to see what goes on and to help out, .
Development wise, work was underway at Cornhill Castle and The Bowfield Hotel & Country Club. Three new bedrooms were added at Cornhill, while the Bowfield Hotel & Country Club are getting ready for their new bar, and restaurant by developing a bespoke brand, which will be unveiled towards the end of the summer.
And we welcomed some lovely visitors to Boclair House Hotel - they used to live there when the building was a retreat for elderly gentlemen. Their parents ran the retreat, and as children they had great memories of growing up in this grand building.
Manorview's Development Team also took part in the All Energy Exhibition and Conference which was held at the SEC in May. This was the UK's largest renewable and low carbon energy event. A talk by Manorview highlighted how the hospitality industry can play a part, and the steps Manorview take, from simply powering off drinks and coffee machines overnight to making use of energy efficient lighting - and the impressive savings that these simple actions can make.
The Simplyhealth Great Women's Run held a photo call in April with a lovely PE Teacher from a secondary school in Glasgow, who had persuaded around 80 schoolgirls to run to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity. There was a further photo call at the end of May with the great BuggyFit ladies and children, who were raising money for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
