November / December 2016 Update
After running a successful campaign for the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run it was time to concentrate on some other projects. November saw us undertaking some case study work for the great charity, Comic Relief.
This saw us interviewing some of the great Scottish projects they help to fund. It's great to see first hand the differences that can be made to people's lives, to hear their stories, and meet some of the people who commit to help others. The work these organisations undertake and the commitment shown by Comic Relief, which helps to sustain these projects, is extremely important. It's great to be given a glimpse into their world, and to help them tell their stories.
We were also delighted to gain a new client in November, the Manorview Hotel & Leisure Group, who have eight bespoke hotels in their portfolio. This is a very forward thinking and rapidly expanding hotel group, born as a family business in 2007, who still retain a hands-on, family-run approach.
They are very customer focussed, each hotel has a different personality and every property is lovingly maintained and cared for.
It was great to see the group being awarded the Scottish VOWS Awards Wedding Venue of the Year Award for 2016 - as the Busby Hotel, in Clarkston, Glasgow, beat off extremely strong competition.
And to cap off a successful year for Manorview, they announced the acquisition of their ninth hotel - the iconic Star & Garter Hotel in Linlithgow.
On a personal note, I joined the organisation MCR Pathways to become a volunteer mentor. This involves visiting a young person every week in their school under the MCR Pathways programme Young Glasgow Talent (YGT). This has been a great experience and a completely new journey. It's also something that anyone can sign up to. I'm further assisting MCR Pathways by being part of a volunteer media team, where we're all working to promote the great work they do. I was particularly delighted to see the founder of MCR Pathways, Iain McRitchie, being awarded the St Mungo prize, recognising the impact his work has had on the city of Glasgow. With a vision and a passion to help the lives of young people, Iain formed the foundation nearly 10 years ago, and thoroughly deserves this accolade.
